Head-to-Head Showdowns
One axis, one call: the A-vs-B decisions a spec sheet alone cannot make. Each call is built from what the makers and platforms document, and says so when it rests on a page we have not re-read.
Label Printers
Label Maker vs 4x6 Label Printer
Two different products sold as “label printers”
If your goal is shipping labels, you want a 4x6 printer; a tape or sticker label maker is a different tool. Listings often use “label printer” for both, so check the label width and the 4x6 (100 x 150 mm) paper size in the listing.
Thermal Printer vs Regular Printer
Do you need thermal to ship? When letter paper is enough
Thermal is a convenience upgrade, not a requirement. Pirate Ship says a regular printer on letter paper works, so start with what you own and move to thermal when the number of labels makes it worth it. The Label Cost Calculator shows how many labels you print a month.

Comparisons
Rollo vs MUNBYN
Drivers, connections and labels: which 4x6 printer fits a home shop
Decide by how you will connect. If you print from a computer and want the fewest driver questions, Rollo documents its Wireless model as needing no Mac driver. If you want Bluetooth from a phone, read the exact MUNBYN model's page first, because what one model supports another may not.
Rollo vs DYMO LabelWriter 4XL
Printer, labels and the yearly label bill
The difference is how much choice you have over labels. Rollo says any direct thermal label from 1.57 to 4.1 inches wide works; the 4XL needs DYMO-compatible rolls. Put the labels each one takes into the Label Cost Calculator and compare cost per label before you settle on the printer.
Zebra ZD421 vs Rollo X1040
Platform support and connections: is a Zebra worth it for a home seller
If you sell on Shopify, its own list is the tiebreaker: it names the Zebra ZD421, and the Rollo it names is the X1038, not the wireless X1040. Off Shopify, Pirate Ship says any printer that supports 4x6 paper works, so the choice comes down to the connection and the system you print from.
Rollo Wireless (X1040) vs Rollo USB (X1038)
Do you need Wi-Fi? Drivers and platform lists
If you sell on Shopify and want a printer on its list, the X1038 is the Rollo it names. If you want to print from a phone or tablet, or skip the Mac driver, Rollo documents the X1040 for that. Pirate Ship's troubleshooting page notes that Rollo labels can look pixelated, so check the 4x6 paper setting either way.
Brother QL-1110NWB vs Rollo X1040
Wi-Fi label printers: the platforms’ pick vs the open-label pick
Brother is the safe answer if you want a printer both Pirate Ship and Shopify name; the trade is DK rolls, so Brother sets the label format. Rollo gives you label choice and phone printing but is not on Shopify’s list. Pick the constraint you would rather live with.
Phomemo vs MUNBYN
Budget 4x6 printers: USB or Bluetooth, model by model
Both brands sell several models with different connections, so compare model to model, not brand to brand. Neither brand is on Shopify's printer list; elsewhere, Pirate Ship says any printer that supports 4x6 paper works.
DYMO LabelWriter 4XL vs 5XL
What changed, and which labels work
If you need the printer to be on Shopify's list, the 5XL is the DYMO that is. If you want label choice, the 4XL's compatible-label rule is the looser of the two. Confirm the 5XL's label rule on DYMO's own page before you buy rolls.
