The First-Shipment Checklist
The one-page checklist to run before your first shipment, so you buy what you need and skip what you do not. Print it and tick it off at the bench.
What the checklist covers
- Whether you need a thermal printer at all: Pirate Ship says a regular printer on 8.5 x 11 paper works
- The label size to print at: 4x6, or 100 x 150 mm in the print dialog
- The measurements to take: length, width and height for a box, length and width for a poly mailer
- The connection check: USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and what your computer, phone or Chromebook supports
- Your platform's printer list, and what to do when your printer is not on it

- My computer or phone, and the connection it supports

- Labels my printer actually takes
- Paper size set to 4x6 (100 x 150 mm)
- A scale that reads ounces

- Cost per label from my own supplier's price
- The date I checked each maker page
