Before installing anything, check whether your printer is the USB X1038 or Wireless X1040. Their normal setup routes differ. A generic search for a “Rollo Mac driver” can send a wireless owner down an unnecessary installation path.
Start with the model and connection
Rollo's Mac driver page says the driver is for its USB label printer and distinguishes the wireless model. For USB, the instructions install the official package, add the Rollo printer in macOS printer settings and select the appropriate Rollo software. The guide then uses a sample label with the paper size set to 4x6.
The screenshots may differ from your macOS version. Follow the current manufacturer's instructions for your model rather than matching an old screen's position by memory.
USB setup checklist
- Confirm the model label and your current macOS version.
- Obtain the driver from Rollo's official support page.
- Follow the installation guide bundled with that download.
- Add the intended printer, then check the selected printer software.
- Open a sample file and choose the corresponding paper size.
- Inspect one printed sample before using a live order batch.
Keep note of the working USB connection and printer name. If you later use a hub, adapter or different port and the printer disappears, compare with the known-working connection before reinstalling everything.
Wireless setup is a separate branch
For X1040, use Rollo's wireless setup guide to join the printer to Wi-Fi first. The computer and printer must be reachable on the intended network. Do not interpret the Bluetooth step used during setup as the normal Mac printing route.
If you plan to use a Wireless X1040 over a cable instead, follow Rollo's specific X1040 USB instructions. Do not assume that instructions for the older USB model are a complete description of that option.
A good connection does not fix the wrong PDF
Open the downloaded label and inspect its page size. A label placed on a letter-size sheet needs the intended thermal export or a documented conversion workflow. Merely selecting a smaller paper size may shrink or clip the content.
Keep the same test file while changing settings. If one application prints correctly and another does not, compare their print dialogs and saved presets. If both fail in the same way, use the manufacturer's sample to separate file problems from printer configuration.
Before shipping
Check that the address and entire barcode are present and legible. Keep a successful preset for the stock you actually use, and repeat the sample check after a major setup change. A visual check is useful but is not a guarantee of carrier acceptance.
See wireless versus USB buying choices before replacing equipment, or the wrong-size label checklist if the printer already connects.
